Introducing Sandra Tierney CKD, CBD,CID

Working as a private chef to the rich and famous for more than a decade gave founder, Sandra Tierney had the opportunity to work in many different kitchens.

She found that the majority of the kitchens were designed for looks rather than function. Becoming increasingly frustrated with her work environments, she decided to design kitchens that not just looked good  but were functional, easy and friendly to work in.

For the past 12 years the Cabinets By Design team have been designing kitchens and baths and selling quality cabinetry. Ms. Tierney teaches cabinet design, mentors new designers and is on the advisory board for Palomar Colleges’ department of interior design.

She obtained her certification through the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) in 2001 and is now Vice President of Professional Development for the local chapter. The Cabinets By Design team continually keeps up with the latest products and trends that fuel our passion to exceed your expectations.

Sandra is passionate about cooking and passionate about the details of kitchen design from concept to completion.   This love of cooking and design details carries over into the concern for quality installation and construction of the kitchen remodels that Cabinets by Design delivers to clients.  Sandra brought on Scott Peters as her lead Project Manager to ensure smooth installation of their projects.

Meet Scott Peters

Scott brings innovation and fresh ideas to kitchen design and remodels.  His eye for color, design and details comes from years of experience as a partner in a small paint and body shop in San Marcos, CA.

After getting married, he completely gutted and remodeled his 1960’s 3 bedroom, 1 bath home by himself. His personal home turned into a beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bath open floor plan home.

One day after meeting Sandra, Scott went to visit one of her remodel jobs. The contractor that was installing that job ran into a problem attaching some moulding onto a cabinet.  Within seconds of seeing the problem, Scott had a solution for the contractor that had been installing cabinets for 20 years.

Scott has been the Project Manager and a designer for Cabinets by Design for 3 ½ years now. He comes up with some very innovative designs and ideas that are out of the box, yet functional and affordable.

Together, Scott and Sandra have fun – even when the design job initially appears to be a difficult space.  They will both come up with a plan and then most of the time; the final design incorporates both our ideas. Scott is especially creative with islands and challenging corners.

Scott takes ownership of his projects. He personalizes the attention to details on each project as if it were his own home. He doesn’t leave a job until it meets his expectations. “Do it once, do it right” is Scott’s motto.
